Since 1989, so over 28 years now
What does your typical day entail?
Everything from site visits to pricing up any lifting enquiries, purchasing of equipment, hiring, installation, testing and inspection work, dealing with and managing any issues which may arise, and getting in overalls to carry out any lifting problems which may happen onsite.
What is the best thing about working in this industry and FLG Services?
The people, the customers are amazing, from starting off on the Hire Desk back in the 80s the customers and colleagues have only given me support, and helped me understand the world of lifting. I believe the patience shown to me in the early days has made me who I am today.
I can honestly say the majority of my customers I have known from the beginning, and the trust they give me makes me do the very best for them. I believe honesty is always the best policy, deliver on time what you promise and deliver the right equipment. Keeping your customers in the loop at all times is paramount, even if it’s bad news. The response you get makes it worth it.
I love lifting and can’t imagine my life without it, from the hectic shutdown demands, where late nights and weekends are going to hit you for sure, to looking at equipment on fairgrounds, construction and engineering workshops. Nearly every manufacturer and industry have some sort of lifting which we can assist with. Now with the added bonus of all the extended products A-Plant has to offer, this has made my role even stronger, from plant, access, accommodation and so forth, means we can offer customers a one stop solution and I like that.
